Why we haven't been blogging...

Kayli is almost 3 years old and tells us every day that her birthday is today or tomorrow. It isn't. The poor girl has to wait until all the way after Christmas. Not that she really understands when that is, she just wants it to be her birthday! We are doing a little co-op preschool with 4 other little girls this year and Kayli loves it. She feels like a big girl when she gets to go to school like Andrew and Kelsi. She also just started a dance class that a young woman from our ward is teaching. It's so cute to watch her, she was so serious during class last week. Kayli is hilarious and keeps us on our toes. She loves her baby brother and has to be told to stop kissing on him. We will have to see how long that lasts. Once he can crawl around and get into her things it may be a different story. We love our Kayli bugaroos!!

Andrew started first grade and loves school. When the first weekend came around he was mad that he couldn't go to school on Saturday. He is learning to read and losing more teeth than we can keep up with. He loves taking piano lessons from his Grandma Button and is doing awesome. He is a sweet boy and we love having him around our house.

Kelsi started Middle School this year. The transition hasn't been too difficult. Kelsi is still taking piano lessons and it's really fun to listen to her play. She is better than me now! She enjoys going to Activity Days at church, but can't wait to be 12 so she can go to Young Women's. Every week she tries to come along with me to mutual. She has been an amazing helper lately, my friends all joke that they need a Kelsi at their house.

This was taken recently...love it.

How sweet is this? This is the real reason that our life has turned upside down the last year, but we wouldn't change it for anything. We love our new little man!!

People have asked us about the transition from three kids to four. It's been a little crazy, but good crazy. Having a newborn just throws you for a loop and anyone who says otherwise is either taking some great medication or hasn't ever actually had a newborn! I am looking forward to someday getting on a more predictable schedule, but for now we are just loving our sweet new baby.

Our Sweet Baby Boys

Adam is losing that newborn baby look and turning into his own little person. A seriously cute one if you ask me. I can't but see the resemblance of our two boys. Here they are on the days they were blessed. Different cameras, different lighting. But brothers for sure!

Here is Adam...

Here is Andrew...

Here is a picture with the family who came for Adam's special day...it was a crazy, fun-filled weekend with lots of cousins!

The busy, busy Buttons!

I used to be a great scrapbooker. Kelsi has 2 books full, all from under the age of 8. Andrew has about half a book full, Kayli has six weeks of her life documented. Are you seeing the pattern? At this rate, Adam should be happy we have pictures of him...somewhere. With each child life gets a little more crazy and some things just don't get done. Don't judge me. I know I don't have hours to scrapbook fancy pages anymore, but I hope this blog can still be a little bit of a family history. I used to be better at blogging too, but that was two children ago. I am going to try and be better. I think I said that in my last post, which was 13 months ago!! Here's to better blogging....Stay tuned.

Pure Deliciousness!

Fact:I am a HUGE fan of Snickerdoodle cookies.
Fact:Earlier tonight I came across an awesome recipe for Snickerdoodle muffins on a blog that I love to stalk.

http://oopsey-daisy.blogspot.com/

They are so easy, even you can make them. Give it a try!!

Snickerdoodle Muffins

Muffins
2 c. flour
¾ tsp. baking soda
¾ tsp. cream of tartar
¼ tsp. salt
½ c. butter, melted
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Topping
1 c. sugar
2 T. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Either butter a 12-cup muffin tin or use cupcake papers.

Mix the dry ingredients together in a bowl. In another bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla. Stir until combined. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and mix lightly with a fork.

Fill the muffin cups with batter. Top each muffin with the cinnamon/sugar mixture. It can be applied heavily.

Bake 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Here is a direct link to the blog, complete with pictures!!

Family Update...It's about time

It has been a busy, fun-filled Summer at the Button home. And the fun isn't ending anytime soon, or the busy for that matter! Here is a little of what is happening in our neck of the woods.

Dave stays busy with work and his church calling. He has helped to move about a hundred families in or out of our ward this summer. Good practice since he gets to move our family next week!

I am busy with children and playing in the sunshine. I love the lazy days of summer and am a little sad to see them end. Summer goes by faster every year! I am preparing to start teaching a preschool in the fall and am very excited for that. I also get to work with the 12&13 year old girls at church and I love them!! I got to see many great friends this summer also.

Kelsi is starting 4th grade soon. How did she get so old?? She kept busy this summer swimming and playing with friends and cousins. She is too smart for her own good, loves to read and never stops eating. She is also the greatest big sister ever!

Our sweet Andrew bug is starting Kindergarten soon. We just found out today that he gets to have the same teacher that Dave had...she is just a few years older now. He is our thinker and LOVES anything having to do with Mario or Luigi. He spends his days completing levels by doing different tasks. He is also the greatest brother ever to his sisters!

Kayli has entered nursery at church and is almost to the point she doesn't scream for an hour when we drop her off. She is learning to talk and we all spend our days trying to figure out what she is saying to us. She is in love with her blankie and her thumb- which was cute when she was a tiny baby, but is not so much anymore. Any advice on how to stop a thumb sucker? She loves her big brother and sister and spends her time trying to do whatever they are doing.

We are a happy (and busy) family!!

MEXICO...Part Cinco!

Here are some random pics of our fun times on the ship.

Have a mentioned how much I adore this man?? I do! Isn't he handsome?

Here is all of us with our trivia medals and trophies. We dominated.

If you have been on a cruise before you know that at dinner you are assigned a table and eat there each night and have the same wait staff. Our ladies are both from Indonesia and they were awesome.

Yes, we are TP'ing a door. When you don't drink, sometimes you need to make your own fun. And we did know the people!

SCUM. Need not say more. Except maybe that when we ended the ladies were in first and second!!

Dave on the waterslide. It was so windy, it made it very cold up there!

Second Formal Night

Our old husbands playing shuffleboard

Beautiful Mandy. Thank you for making us go on this trip!!!!

Have you ever played miniature golf in the middle of the ocean? We did! It was very windy and I thought maybe it would help me out but I was still horrible.

Every second of this trip was awesome and Mexico is eagerly anticipating our return. Soon, hopefully very soon. I heart you Mexico and Carnival Cruise Lines!!

MEXICO...Part Cuatro

La Paz!

We had to ride on a little boat for 90 minutes to get to our SCUBA spot...Los Islotes, where we were going to swim with sea lions. See the smile on my face? I was so excited.

And then I got in the water. It was so cold! Even with a wet suit I was shivering so bad and I couldn't get my buoyancy right. It had been almost 4 years since the last time we did SCUBA and that was in a hot spring. Way different than the ocean. Do I look terrified in this picture? I made Dave hold my hand the whole time, cause I am a big baby. But I did it. And he still loves me :)That is a sea lion in the corner, swimming by us. They were very friendly. Crazy Mandy was playing with them.

This is the beautiful beach we ate lunch at after the dive. Umm, can we just stay here forever?? It was so beautiful! After we ate the boys went on another dive while us girls stayed up in the warm sun.

Heading into La Paz on a bus. The town was about a 20 minute ride from where the boat docked so they had complimentary shuttles for us. The town wasn't that fabulous...or we just didn't walk far enough. The beaches are beautiful there, though.

A beautiful cactus at the Port of Pichilingue.
